Datamed has developed PPIS, an integrated e-prescription system that offers key functionality for managing the relationship between the public sector and citizens, contributing to automated and comprehensive monitoring of the prescription process and to high-quality service for citizens.
PPIS features an intelligent system for analysing the patient’s response to their medication, leveraging the available information and supporting clinical prescribing decisions.
Cost Rationalisation: Through specialised algorithms, it enables the detection of abusive and illegal prescribing and the control and rationalisation of the healthcare costs of insured persons, since prescriptions are entered and then dispensed according to specific rules and audit protocols, while also reducing administrative costs and the cost of serving citizens.
Insurance Fund: Through the electronic transmission, online or offline, of detailed data, the insurance fund is able to have full control over healthcare costs. The data sent to the insurance fund are the most detailed possible, at the level of each medical test per healthcare referral and each drug per prescription.
Data Analysis: PPIS’s built-in business intelligence system, through a dedicated statistical analysis subsystem, enables the extraction of detailed information and conclusions per insured person, pharmacist, treating physician, drug and disease, as well as any combination of these.
Using PPIS, Datamed successfully implemented the e-Prescription project for the National Health System of Cyprus, in partnership with IBM Cyprus. The aim of the project was to implement an Electronic Prescription Processing and Billing System for the full computerisation of the Pharmaceutical Services Department of the Ministry of Health.
In addition, Datamed actively participated in the Greek National e-Prescription System of H.D.Y.K.A., through its partnership with OTE.
